African Woman Magazine Official in Kenya!
To celebrate one year of bringing great fashion and hard hitting features to the women of East Africa, African Woman Magazine will be holding a huge party in Nairobi this April. The magazine has been distributed in Kenya (as well as in Tanzania, South Sudan and Rwanda) on a trial basis since 2006, and given the immensely positive response from the readers, the team has decided to expand and to finally make their entry on the Kenyan market official. |
On that special night (we will tell you when soon), African Woman Magazine will be inviting all well-wishers, friends, advertisers and contributors for a big get-together, all in pure African Woman style... As always, expect to see East Africa’s most rich and famous to be there so keep a close eye for extra fabulous fashion.

Sylvia Owori, a leading haute couture and fashion designer in Africa is to partner with the giant mobile phone handset makers, Motorola in a close collaboration entitled MotoCouture with Sylvia Owori.
This is Sylvia’s first show in Uganda in two years and it is to be held at the newly renovated and refurbished Serena Conference Center in Kampala on 14th October, 2006. The show will take place in front of an expected audience of over 1500 who will include followers of fashion including key figures in entertainment, media, society, the arts and politics.
MotoCouture with Sylvia Owori will celebrate Sylvia bringing to her home country the different collections she has designed for fashion events throughout Africa. The show will be a retrospective of the collections she has created for various events such as Cape Town Fashion Week, Kenya Fashion Week, the Face of Africa competitions etc. Sylvia will also be presenting a colorful and feminine new line for the first time named "The Fantasy Collection", as well as an exclusive MotoCouture outfit, a surprise collaboration with the famous mobile handset company.
Sylvia says of the collaboration, “This is the first time in two years that I have had a chance to work on a collection for my label and launch it in an exciting and spectacular way! I have been designing and showcasing my collections all over the continent in the past years and I feel ready to put up a show of international standards here in Uganda. I am grateful to Motorola for coming on board with me as the major sponsor of what will be a great night in Kampala not only in fashion but in entertainment too!”
The event will also be graced by one of East Africa's up and coming stars: Tanzania's very own Mustafa Hassanali, a renowned fashion designer in his country and in Africa. Mustafa will be bringing to Kampala his interpretation of female beauty using his trademark style which will compliment this special fashion event.

AfricanWoman, East Africa’s leading lifestyle and fashion magazine specifically targeted to the fashion conscious consumers, is to partner with REDD’S Lager as the media sponsor for the REDD’S Fashion Awards.
The Awards will be taking place in October/November 2006 in Tanzania.
This announcement was made at a press conference at the Sheraton Hotel in Kampala on 11th September 2006.
REDD’S Fashion Awards will be launched here in Uganda with the main aim of promoting local fashion and design talent from amongst Africa’s designers.
