The ultra popular magazine now sold in Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Sudan and Rwanda (more countries to come, we hope) is has gone a long way since it's first issue and has had cover girls such as international super model Ajuma and top athlete Dorcus Inzikuri.

On November 16th 2006, Cineplex Garden City in partnership with Sylvia Owori will host the national premiere of the Hollywood blockbuster film: ‘The Devil Wears Prada’.
The film, which tells the story of the transformation of Andy, a small town girl, after becoming the assistant of the despotic editor of a big fashion magazine and has created a stir all over the planet. Finally making its way to Uganda, who other than Sylvia, the regional fashion giant, could host the premiere of this internationally acclaimed movie about fashion, beauty and style?
On the night, 200 of Kampala’s most exclusive guests will be treated to a fabulously chic rooftop cocktail followed by the very first screening of the film. |

On the 14th of October 2006, Sylvia Owori, in close collaboration with Motorola will host her second solo fashion show on the prestigious setting of the recently launched Serena Hotel in Kampala. With 1500 guests, this groundbreaking event for the regional fashion industry will be attended by some of the most important figures around, brought together for one spectacular night of fashion.
This will be Sylvia's first show in Uganda in two years, bringing to her home country the different collections she has designed for fashion events throughout Africa. The show will be a retrospective of the collections she has created for various events such as Cape Town Fashion Week, Kenya Fashion Week, the Face of Africa competition etc. Sylvia will also be presenting a colourful and feminine new line for the first time named "The Fantasy Collection", as well as an exclusive Motocouture outfit, a surprise collaboration with the famous mobile company.
In addition to the different Sylvia Owori collections scheduled to be showcased throughout the night, the event will also be graced by one of East Africa's up and coming stars: Tanzania's very own Mustafa Hassanali. A renowned fashion designer in his country as well as abroad, Mustafa will bring to Kampala his interpretation of female beauty using his trademark style which will compliment this special fashion event.
With all these exciting outfits gathered in a spectacular show, this will certainly mark a new era in the fashion industry of East Africa. |
